Le Trec is an Equestrian sport suitable for all ages and abilities on a variety of horses and ponies. Le Trec combines trail riding, negotiating hazards, jumping and basic flatwork. Riders can compete as pairs. Le Trec is a very social riding activity, one that can also be enjoyed by non-riders.

The British Horse Society introduced Le Trec to the U.K. Within the UK, Le Trec is often referred to as BHS Trec.

BHS Trec sets out to examine both horse and rider whilst participating in a broad range of equine activities. BHS Trec competitions examine:

- How a horse & rider cope with an all-day ride
- How the horse & rider deal with natural hazards & obstacles
- A Riders understanding of horse welfare & the countryside.

For more Le Trec nfo, see: BHS website (Le Trec section)

Le Trec Courses in Sussex

Le Trec is short for Technique De Randonnee Equestre De Competition and is a combination of orienteering and horse riding. It combines a knowledge of terrain, with map reading which plays an integral part. Le Trec tests the horse and rider through a range of activities including trail riding, flatwork and cross country jumping.

"BHS TREC is a unique equestrian sport based on the French discipline 'Le Trec'. Introduced to this country by the British Horse Society in 1998, BHS TREC appeals to a variety of riders with all kinds of horses and ponies."

"The competition is designed to test a horse/rider combination through a whole range of activities rather than focusing on one particular discipline. The sport requires versatility and training, combining the requirements of trail riding, with jumping and correct basic flatwork." (taken from: the British Horse Society website)

At Ditchling Common Stud in Sussex, you can try out Le Trec as well as a range of other horse riding activities including mounted Skill At Arms and horse back Falconry.
