Horse Riding In Sussex

Our horses and ponies suit a broad range of riders. In your assessment we will try to match you to the horse or types of horses that will suit you best. We have been giving horse riding instruction in Sussex for over 20 years. Our professional riding instructors will advise you on how to progress with your training in equitation.

Horseback riding has been going on in Sussex for centuries. There are many reasons for this. In the beginning, horses were primarily used for fighting and hunting and for transportation. The speed of the horse gave the riders a great advantage over those on foot. Later, as horseback riding became an essential part of the travel portfolio different breeds were developed for special purposes. With the arrival of carriages and wagons, people could transport themselves and their possessions over long distances with convenience and speed. Today, horseback riding is mostly used for recreation. Clients at Ditchling Common Stud have access to 2 indoor covered schools and an outdoor school as well as a 'Le Trec' course, Cross Country, Show Jumping and a Skill At Arms Arena.
